The Sak is paying tribute to its Balinese heritage with a limited-edition philanthropic capsule collection for Spring 2019 dedicated to the artisans who first inspired the brand's "crochet craze" in 1989. This charitable collection amplifies The Sak's commitment to a business built on purposeful intent, with future initiatives being planned to support fair trade practices and increased sustainability.
Entirely hand-crocheted by women in the Balinese village of Negara, the capsule features 18 new iterations of the iconic 120 Hobo bag in limited quantities. Each of the styles is made by a single female artisan who signs and numbers her work.
Our signature crochet yarn is hand-crocheted into bags and accessories by experienced artisans. Each style is highly functional and can be used year-round in any climate. Designed for your on-the-go lifestyle, our crochet is durable, lightweight & packable and will recover immediately when unpacked. Our styles are easy to care for (spot clean & air dry) and PETA-approved vegan certified.
The Sak donates a portion of proceeds from our Back to Bali collection by funding healthcare and education to the female artisans who hand-made our bags.
Fulfilling our 30th-anniversary commitment to sponsor the healthcare and education of our female artisans, The Sak team headed to the Balinese village of Negara in October 2019 to administer various health exams and counseling to over 100 women and their families.
We look forward to many more charitable initiatives to pay homage and support the Balinese community.
